Imperial Summer Palace

This second palace served the Qing Dynasty as an imperial retreat from the stifling confines of the Forbidden City. The complex suffered two major attacks, one during the Anglo-French invasion of 1860 and again during the Boxer Rebellion in 1900. The surviving garden was rebuilt in 1886 and 1902, and became a UNESCO World Heritage site in December 1998.

Tian'an Men Square

Directly across the Forbidden City,  Tiananmen (literally "Gate of Heavenly Peace") Square has been the site of several key events in China's history, and holds great cultural significance.

A half mile long and over a quarter mile wide, the gargantuan scale is hard to imagine for many people until they have a chance to see it in person. At maximum capacity, this famous square can contain over 100 million people simultaneously!

The National Palace Museum (Forbidden City)

The Chinese Imperial Palace was the throne of power from the mid-Ming Dynasty (~1400AD) to the end of the Qing Dynasty (1920AD) from which the Emperors ruled for 500 years. The Forbidden City was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987 and is listed by UNESCO as the largest collection of ancient wooden structures in the world.

Temple of Heaven

The temple also known as Tian Tan, is one of the largest temple complexes in China and a paradigm of Chinese architectural balance and symbolism. The complex was visited by the Emperors in Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to heaven for a good harvest. Today, the park surrounding the Temple of Heaven has become a favorite gathering place for early morning practitioners of Tai Chi and other bustling social activities.

Great Wall of China at Simatai

Nicknamed the "Wild Wall" for its unrestored beauty, the Simatai section of the Great Wall is adjacent to Gubei Water Town. The city wall is built on a steep hill and is famous for its unique beauty.

Simatai Reservoir divides this part of the Great Wall into two parts: 16 carefully crafted watchtowers stand to the east, and 18 in the west. Luo Zhewen, a famous Chinese ancient architect, once commented "the Great Wall of China is the highest in the world, and the Great Wall of Simatai is the best of the Great Wall of China." It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987 and is a state-level key cultural relic.

Great Wall of China at Mutianyu

A visit to the Great Wall is thrilling and can vastly change perspectives in a positive way. Super Value Tours includes a less-commercialized section so you can avoid the crowds and have ample time to quietly enjoy the magnificent beauty of the area.

The Mutianyu section is located 45 miles northeast of Beijing, and the beauty is breathtaking. The Great Wall presents a different face in all 4 seasons: Flowers bloom across the mountain in spring, bright green grass dresses the hillside in summer, red and yellow leaves adorn the mountaintop with gold in autumn, and snow blankets the Wall in winter.

Gubei Water Town

Gubei Kou (literally "Old North Opening"), is named for its historic status as one of the Great Wall's key checkpoints during ancient times. The local village was restored in 2016 to create a resort town in classic Chinese style. We arrange an overnight stay here so you can have ample time to enjoy one of the world's most beautiful landmarks; take in unique evening views of the Great Wall and take a walking tour on the wall during the day. Located at the foot of the Simatai Great Wall, the resort is in a picturesque location where visitors can appreciate the beauty of the Great Wall from many different perspectives.

Xi'an Ancient City Wall

The Ancient City Wall of Xi'an was constructed in the early Ming Dynasty (1300AD), and is a symbol of great significance for China's most famous historic cities. A main feature of the Xi'an City Wall lies in the fact it has been preserved, which is rarely seen elsewhere in the world. The Ancient City Wall has corner towers, ramparts, sentry towers, gate towers, battlements and a number of city fortifications with very strong defensive capabilities.

Shaanxi History Museum

Covering 700,000 square feet, the newly-built museum recreates Tang-dynasty architecture and successfully symbolizes the great extent of Shaanxi (ancient name for Xian) history and its remarkable culture. This is the best starting point on our journey back through time.

Terracotta Army Museum

The life-sized Terracotta (clay) warriors and horses of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor who unified China, date back over 2,000 years (210BC) and were unearthed in 1974 by local farmers. The delicately carved figures include warriors, chariots, horses, officials, acrobats, strongmen, and musicians, each with different expressions and unique faces. A vast collection has been unearthed across 3 separate pits, but archeologists estimate the entire army consists of over 8,000 soldiers with a majority of the original warriors still buried in the pits.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda

Just as the Forbidden City symbolizes Beijing, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a popular piece of ancient architecture in China and symbolizes Xian. The pagoda was erected in the Tang-dynasty (~ 650AD) as a fireproof storehouse for sutras and other Buddhist relics imported from India.

Hongcun Village

Hongcun Village is the best representation of Huizhou style architecture and folk dwellings.

Built in 1131, the village comprises of 140 ancient houses from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Geographically arranged in the shape of an ox, the ancient village is integrated into the natural landscape; each household is connected by a waterway. The courtyards are in harmony with the lakes and mountains, and beautiful scenery can be found in every corner, so it is easy to see why it is known as the "village in a Chinese painting." Scenes from the Oscar-winning film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" were filmed here, and in 2000, it was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.

Huangshan

The prestigious Huangshan Mountain is the most famous mountain in China. Its natural majesty rivals the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls.

In 1990, it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its scenery and as a habitat for rare and threatened species. Unusual pines, interesting rocks, sea of clouds, hot springs, and winter snow are considered the "5 Musts of Huangshan," as the scenery is uniquely distinct in each season. Spring mountain flowers are lush with bright purples and reds, summer rivers are lively and green, autumn sees mountains dyed in reds, and the silvery winter wraps pines in serenity.

Shixin Feng ("Beginning to Believe Peak")

All the sites around Huangshan are uniquely magical, but Shixin Peak is one of the most well known. Located in the eastern part of Huangshan, Shixin Peak shoots above precarious cliffs and stands 5,400 feet above sea level. Here, the cliff face is stark, delicate, and dramatic. The peaks and gullies are deep and quiet, and the winds unpredictable.

Literally translated as "Beginning to Believe Peak," its unusual name is derived from legend. According to historic accounts, a Ming Dynasty geographer (14th century) was skeptical of the unbeleivable descriptions of Huangshan's beauty. Upon arriving here to see for himself, he was immediately awestricken, and carved "Shixin" or "Beginning to believe" into a stone.

Paiyun ("Row of Clouds") Pavilion

Located in the "West Sea" section of Huangshan, Paiyun (Row of Clouds) Pavilion is named for the wide panoramic views of clouds from this mountaintop resting area.  Foggy and mistay times are considered the most picturesque, as you can see the tips of mountains peeking through the clouds, like countless islands in a vast ocean of sky and clouds. One of five viewing platforms of Huangshan National Park, it is one of the best spots to watch the beautiful scenery of Mount Huangshan.

Qingliang Tai ("Refreshing Terrace")

Qingliang Tai (Refreshing Terrace) is one of five viewing platforms in Huangshan. Directly in front of the platform, we can observe the quiet shifting of nature as clouds dance around dramatic granite peaks stretching far beyond the horizon. A popular spot for watching the sunrise of Huangshan.

Guangming Ding ("Bright Summit Peak")

One of the main peaks of Huangshan Mountain, Bright Summit Peak is the second highest, at 6100 ft above sea level. Here, the front and back sides of the mountain come together to form a natural border.

The name Bright Summit Peak derives from the expansive space and lingering sunshine here. During the Ming Dynasty period (1368–1644), a monk constructed a temple in this location, which houses a weather station today. The top is flat and the view is wide; from this location, you will get a great view of various sights including: Lotus Flower, Tiandu, Yuyu, and Yuping Peaks. Locals often say, "If you have not visited Bright Summit Peak, you have not seen the real scenery of Huangshan"

Aoyu ("Big Turtle") Peak

5800 ft above sea level, Aoyu Peak is the first of the 36 peaks of Huangshan Mountain, and is said to resemble an Aoyu [mythical animal similar to a turtle]. A triangular hole engraved with the characters "Made in Heaven" sits at the top of the peak, and stairways to the cave lets visitors pass through the hole.  On the left side of the summit, you can see the Lotus Peaks rising high and clouds on the right along with the West Sea Xiantao Stone on the right.

Suzhou Museum

The museum is a masterpiece designed the Chinese-American architectural master, I.M. Pei, in his ancestral hometown of Suzhou. Unlike other museums, the edifice itself is a treasure in addition to the precious collections inside. The Suzhou Museum draws on the essence of Suzhou classical gardens, allowing the classic colors of blue bricks, white powdered walls and tiles to sing the main theme. The style and materials are based on the modernist and cubist style that I.M. Pei is best known for. The unique combination of traditional spiritual culture and contemporary architectural art makes it one of the most beautiful museums in China.

Humble Administrator's Garden

"The gardens to the south of Yangtze River are the best in the world, and Suzhou's gardens are the best among them."

Built in 1509, the garden is considered the greatest example of the unique style of the Yangtze Delta (Jiangnan). Together with the Beijing Summer Palace, the Chengde Summer Palace, and the Lingering Garden of Suzhou, the Humble Administrator's garden are the four famous gardens of China.

The garden was the retirement project of a Ming Dynasty government official named Wang Xiancheng. Frustrated with not being able to meet grandiose professional aspirations, he escaped to his private residence upon retirement to enjoy the simple pleasures of gardening and landscaping by planting trees and cultivating vegetables. He thought this was a suitable life led by a humble man like him, hence the name of the garden. In 1997, the Humble Administrator's Garden was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. A visit to the garden brings a feeling of peace and tranquility.

Pudong Binjiang Avenue

Binjiang Avenue and Binjiang Park is a waterfront pedestrian area with one of the best views of the iconic Shanghai skyline. Running with the Huangpu River, the full length of the boulevard spans 1.5 miles and serves several purposes including shopping, leisure, and even flood control. A leisurely stroll down Binjiang Avenue is a great way to take in the wonders of Shanghai. Witness the amazing speed at which Shanghai moves mixed against the quiet majesty of the Huangpu River.

City God Temple - Yuyuan Market

Shanghai's most distinctive and fun tourist destination.

The Old City Temple carries the spirit of the Shanghainese and the city's original memories. Traditionally, it has been known as a sacred place to see devout pilgrims, quaint Ming and Qing architecture, and gain insight into China's old industries. Today, it's also famous as a place to find delicious street snacks such as soup dumplings, xiao long bao, sweet buns, savory pancakes, and onion noodles.

Waldorf Astoria Beijing

Rich Chinese tradition and modern style flawlessly combine at Waldorf Astoria Beijing. This distinctive hotel was the former residence of Li Hongzhang, an influential politician from China's last imperial dynasty. Today, its prime location in the heart of Beijing (within 10 minutes walking distance to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City) makes it one of the best bases for exploring the city.

Wuzhen: Wuzhen Dockside Boutique Hotel

Bordered by the old Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, this hotel was once an inn and rest area for traders and travelers on the ancient canals. In 2010, this classic inn was rebuilt, and after a renovation period of two years, the result is a luxury resort which passes down the cultural charm of the original Jiangnan style with ornate wooden joists, expertly-crafted roofs, long corridors, and a quiet atmosphere. The quiet waters of the canals can be seen directly from the window of our rooms, and you can walk straight into a world of ancient trees and greenery along quaint local alleys.

* We book waterfront rooms (double bed room) for our guests. Due to the limited number of rooms, priority will be given on a first-come-first served basis. If you need a twin room, please let us know in advance. Twin rooms are not available with waterfront views.
